Firecrackers, dragons and drums will scare off evil spirits and symbolize good luck on Front Street in Lahaina.

The full-day celebration is the place to ring in the lunar New Year on Maui and includes plenty of festivities at the Wo Hing Museum and Cookhouse at 858 Front St.

As lions dance their way through Lahaina, enjoy cultural activities — calligraphy, knot tying and fortune telling — at the Cookhouse.

Also, martial arts demonstrations and instrumental performances while Chinese tea is served in the garden.

Celebrate the Year of the Dog, presented by the Lahaina Restoration Foundation.
